orchard

The mandarin tree in the front of the orchard is full with yummy fruit.

Here is a young papaya tree coming along nicely.

Here is the horse grazing in the field of fruit trees that Chilo has been developing. The horse generally has the freedom to roam the finca, but he has been tied up since taking off on a jaunt through the neighborhood a few days ago.

Here is a young mango seedling, along with the drip system used in the field. Drip is utilized when water pressure is too low to use hoses to water.

The use of a screw into the hose is a very elegant solution to regulating the drip. By tightening and then loosening the screw, sediment in the system is also easily pushed through.

Mangoes, papaya, and pineapple seedlings are well-represented in the field, along with established orange and mandarin trees already bearing lots of fruit. Within just a few years, this will be a diverse and thriving fruit orchard.
